Between Chinon and Tours, our B&B la Balastière is a perfect base from which to visit the main historic sites of the Loire Valley region. La Balastière is a 15th century rural house nestled in a peaceful and charming little island of greenery, in the middle of vineyards so much appreciated by Rabelais. It is managed by Christine who will welcome you there.

Stories and legends are just a stone throw away. Castles of the Loire, such as Chinon, Ussé, Langeais, Villandry and Azay le Rideau, and the remarkable Fontevraud Abbey where the memories of Leonardo da Vinci, Richard the Lion Heart, Joan of Arc, King Henry II, Eleanor of Aquitaine and the fictitious Sleeping Beauty of Perrault fame can be appreciated.

If you are travelling by bicycle you will be able to enjoy a well-deserved rest at la Balastiere which is not far from the Vienne River, a tributary of the Loire River.
